INSPIRATIONS 2012 introducing 'FREELANCER OF THE YEAR AWARDS'. Sponsored by Wella Professionals. The FHBF has always known that our members are true superstars both creatively and in business.  With this in mind we are officially launching the Freelancer of the Year Awards , which will celebrate and reward the outstanding results that we know are continually achieved in the Freelance sector. This competition, a first in the Hair & Beauty industry, is open to all independant hairdressers & beauty therapist. The rules and regulations are simple to follow, to encourage you to have a go.There are seven catagories to enter: Stylist of the Year, Colourist of the Year, Bridal Service of the Year, Makeup Artist of the year, Business of the Year, Retailer of the Year and Unsung Hero of the Year giving everyone across the board an opportunity to enter and shine.

The Awards are being launched at Inspirations 2012. The Inspirations programme will finish at 3pm when a sumptuous Afternoon Tea will be served as a prelude to the Award ceremony.

Inspirations including the Awards is being held on Sunday 24th June 2012 at the Helliden Lakes Hotel Northampton Inspirations has always had the biggest names in the industry on its stage and for this event Patrick Cameron is among our guest stylists as well as hosting our AWARDS.

INSPIRATIONS 2011 Member Sally Rusca attended and here is her report 'Hi there all you freelancers!  What a fab day June 12th at Inspirations turned out to be. Introduction was hosted by Sheila telling us about the past years events and success's. Next on was John, the great business guru, to tell us about 'The One Show', the One being us the hairdresser and ways to make our business's more successful, giving us the latest economic trends and patterns and tools in which we can make improvements.

Coffee break and time for shopping in the village which this year hosted lots of professional outlets including L'Oreal, Wella, Indola and LocalRus  showing us how to set up our own websites helping us to promote our business's and much more.

Next on was Mark Wooley introducing his latest collection which was called 'Weight line' showing us that strong geometric shapes are very much in vogue, but cut in a slightly softer more graduated way - a very commercial look can be achieved.

Time for lunch and more shopping in the village and a chance to buy raffle tickets in aid of HABB.

WOW a vibrant Street Dance show to kick off after lunch before Sheilas exciting announcement that the 2012 Inspirations there are going to be awards for outstanding achievements in styling, colour, business and more. Get your entry forms and have a go!

We were then presented with the FHBF art team and their latest collection  'Picasso', which was absolutely stunning. Their photo shoot was in the Hairdressers journal on17th June. The models had been beautifully cut and coloured, the team must be very proud.

Last but not least was Michael Douglas, the 'Street Barber' from the BBC1 One Show. Makeovers and more. What an entertainer and what fun! He took two models from our audience and  created very easy and quick to achieve 80's hair updos. It was fun listening to him telling us about his background and how he likes the challenge of his work everyday.

All too soon came the end of the day. How lovely that Sheila was given the cup for her contributions to HABB, the industries charity, she certainly deserves it! Just a reminder to myself did I pick up my awards entry form? Can't wait for Inspirations 2012!
